In the surprisingly long history of The Knitts, they've managed to accomplish a lot considering they've flown under the radar of any major record label.
Usually touted as "the best band you haven't heard yet", The Knitts have become a DIY, underground powerhouse with the song writing chops and charisma to shatter the proverbial glass ceiling of the music industry.

The Knitts have planted their flag all over the United States, including music festivals such as BottleRock, Desert Daze, and Treefort Music Fest, along with successful live events at the Whisky a Go Go, The Roxy, The Avalon and all other major music venues along the West Coast.
An at capacity show 3,000 miles away from their Los Angeles home at the Brooklyn Knitting Factory and three shows in one night for SXSW only proves the relentless workhorse effort The Knitts put into every opportunity they
receive to get their music heard.

The foundation of The Knitts are built upon family and childhood friendships. Brothers Justin Volkens (Vocals), Charlie Volkens (Guitar) and childhood friends and collaborators Victor Portillo (Guitar) Jimmy Jazz (Bass) and Sandra Alva (Drums) make up the quintet who's sounds are
“a brash, West Coast take on the guitar-driven yet danceable rock of second-wave Brit-pop bands like The Libertines and Franz Ferdinand.”
- LA WEEKLY
"I’m normally not one to listen to an entire album in one sitting, but after doing just that with Retreat, I found myself (for maybe the first time) starting the songs all over again."
